GOLDline project sydney 1989-1995
WPS were a vital part of the $450m Goldline project in Sydney between 1989 and 1995, Our role was to replace the low pressure gas network with medium pressure within the entire AGL gas distribution area. We sliplined approximatley 120KM of exisiting cast iron mains with nylon pipe.
WPS were a part of the project that consisted of approximately 1200 personnel working at over 60 sites throughout urban Sydney, Goldline project was completed ahead of projected time frames and below estimated costs.
During the years of 1976 - 1990, AGLGN converted from town gas to natural gas, The conversion to dry natural gas caused problems, as the corroded steel and cast iron pipes often leaked. This gas leakage prompted the Goldline project, in which nylon pipes were inserted into the cast iron pipes. All new networks are installed using non-corrodible nylon or polyethylene pipe.

On average completing approximately 20KM of rehabilitated pipelines per year for the past 25 years. Rehabilitation of deteriorating existing cast iron and steel networks using the sliplining method. Renewing pipes ranging from 3/4 (20mm) up to 760mm in diameter.
